What is JSON?
JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a simple text format for storing and exchanging data. It is built from a small set of pieces — objects (key/value pairs), arrays, text, numbers, true/false, and null — and is used by most web APIs, configuration files and data exports.
Format vs Minify
Format (also called Pretty Print) spreads JSON across multiple lines with indentation, so a person can read the structure at a glance. Minify does the opposite: it strips every space and line break that is not needed, producing the smallest possible file — the same data, just harder for a human to read.
JSON validation
Validating checks whether your text follows the exact rules of the JSON format: property names in double quotes, no trailing commas, matching brackets, and so on. This tool uses the browser's own JSON parser, so a file that validates here will be accepted by any standard JSON parser.
