Three different kinds of hidden information

These three tools clean different things, and none of them overlaps with the others:

  • Hidden data inside a photo — camera settings and sometimes exact GPS location. EXIF Viewer & Remover shows what's stored and removes it.
  • Hidden data inside a PDF document — author name, company, creation software and dates, stored separately from the visible page content. PDF Metadata Remover clears the standard fields.
  • Sensitive patterns inside plain text — emails, phone numbers, IP addresses and card-like numbers you're about to paste somewhere. Sensitive Data Remover finds and masks or removes them.

What 'processed locally' means here

For all three tools, your file or text is read and cleaned using your browser's own features — nothing is uploaded to a server for that processing. This matters more here than for a simple format conversion, since the whole point is to stop information from leaving your device in the first place. See How Local Browser-Based File Processing Works for how that actually works under the hood.

It's worth being precise about the limits, too. Sensitive Data Remover works by matching known patterns (email formats, phone number layouts, a checksum for card-like numbers) — it has no AI model and cannot recognize a name or a home address written in an ordinary sentence, so it can miss things a human reader would catch; always check the result yourself before sharing it. PDF Metadata Remover clears the standard document info fields, but doesn't inspect attachments, annotations, or data embedded inside the page content itself. Removing hidden data reduces what's exposed — it isn't a guarantee that a file contains nothing else worth checking by hand for a truly sensitive document.
