What is PDF metadata?

Most PDF files carry a small set of hidden document properties alongside the pages you see — things like a title, an author name, the software that created the file, and when it was made or last changed. These fields are not shown on the page itself, but many programs display them in a "Document Properties" or "Info" panel.

Why remove it before sharing

The Author or Creator field can reveal a real name or a company name you did not mean to share, and the Creation and Modification dates can reveal when a document was really written, even if the visible content does not say so.

What this tool does not touch

This tool clears the standard document metadata fields only. It does not change anything written on the pages, and it does not inspect embedded XMP metadata streams, file attachments, or annotations, which some PDF authoring tools also use to store extra information.
