SRT vs WebVTT
SRT is a simple, plain-text subtitle format supported by almost every video player. VTT (WebVTT) is the subtitle format built for the web — it is what the HTML <track> element uses, so it is the format most websites and web video players expect.
What changes when converting
The two formats store the same kind of information in a slightly different shape: WebVTT starts with a WEBVTT header line and uses a dot before the milliseconds (00:00:01.000), while SRT numbers every subtitle and uses a comma (00:00:01,000). This tool converts between the two automatically and keeps your text and line breaks.
What this tool does not do
WebVTT supports advanced features such as cue positioning, styling and regions. This tool reads and writes timing and text; it does not try to fully support every advanced WebVTT feature. Unsupported styling or positioning information is ignored rather than causing an error.
